Welcome to Vidusayura

Vidusayura ship handling simulator is an unrivaled victorious research outcome of the Modeling and simulation research group of University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC). This is a collaborative research effort involving personnel from the UCSC, Department of Physics (University of Colombo), Sri Lanka Navy and Ocean University of Sri Lanka (OUSL).

Vidusayura is a perception enhanced immersive virtual environment, which has seamless multi display viewing system. Vidusayura has own real-time ship motion prediction algorithms based on ship hydrodynamics and it includes three-dimensional models of several Sri Lankan ports. Vidusayura boasts of over 30 peer reviewed research articles in international conference proceedings and journals. The technological achievements of Vidusayura were recognized through several national and international awards.

Vidusayura ship handling simulator has been successfully deployed at the Ocean University of Sri Lanka and it is used for maritime teaching and learning activities. Another forked version of Vidusayura was deployed at naval headquarters, Sri Lanka and it is used for demonstrations.

Vidusayura development was based on the OGRE3D rendering engine. It is a scene-oriented, flexible 3D engine written in C++ designed to make it easier and more intuitive for developers to produce applications utilizing hardware-accelerated 3D graphics.
